In 2015, I solemnly swear to actually write in this blog. Maybe not solemnly. I'm gonna try. If nothing else, it's a good way to keep track of my backlog. Which is huge. Pathetically so. I need to actually finish things this year. Adulthood is hard. Living in general is hard. Life. Anyway...
Dragon Age:Inquisition: I've clocked a good 121 hours with this game, and still have quests and five dragons to beat. Sigh. While I really love this game, it is really overwhelming at times. I'm a Dragon Age 2 defender, and was completely okay with the small setting, if not the reused assets for each dungeon. Being lost for hours on end can be a true pain in the ass. I don't remember ever getting lost in Kirkwall. Just saying.
The cast of characters is very interesting. I don't love anyone as much as I loved Isabella, the bisexual pirate in the last game, but I also don't hate anyone the way I hated Sebastian. Still mad there's no option to execute him. So serious. He's awful.
The story is okay, but there's so much to do, that I never pay much attention to it. I'd rather talk to people and have sex with Dorian (who has an exceptional ass), while possibly completing a fetch quest or two. I think I'm nearing the end, but I still have so much more stuff to do. I'm aiming for March to be done with it, but who knows.

Persona Q:Shadow of the Labyrinth: I'm a Persona stan. This game is like a fan-fiction wet dream. I've never been a big fan of the Etrian Odyssey series due to their (for the most part) lack of personality and brutal unforgiving difficulty. However, the cast of characters and the added battles mechanics such as exploiting enemy weaknesses causing you to not waste HP/SP make this much more enjoyable than that series. I also really enjoy playing around with my party and fusing Persona. It can be a pain if you hate grinding, but I enjoy that in my RPGS, so I'm grinding away. I still don't quite get the story (is there one?) but I'm having fun so I kinda don't care.
Tales of Hearts:R: Well, it's a Tales games. Fast battles, generic story and characters etc. It's JRPG to the max. That being said, they all have their charms (except Tales of Graces F. That's just trash. Don't play it ever) and this one is no exception. It's also one of the more light hearted in the series, which is a nice change of pace considering how dark Xillia 1& 2 were.
One big gripe I have against the game is the inclusion of random battles. This is the first Tales game I've played where you couldn't see the enemies on screen, and I have to say, it's giant step backwards. Yes, I know it's a remake of a DS game, but everything else was upgraded. They couldn't have just added some generic blobs as stand ins for enemies? That's all I would have needed. A way to avoid all the fighting.
There's a bonus dungeon after you beat the main game, but I'm not doing it. I'm too old, and gaming ADHD is telling me it's time to move on. I do however recommend this game to all VITA users in America though, because, what the hell is you got play? That's fun I mean. Yes, that was shade. I own one, so I can do that.
Brave Story:New Traveler: Had to dust off Sony's other neglected handheld, the PSP to play this one. The game apparently is loosely based off a manga called "Brave Story", which I never read, but the references to it in the game have been very vague so far, so I don't think it matters. This game plays very much like "kid's first RPG'. The dialogue is simple, the gameplay is turn based and simple. It's all very...simple. I'm not sure if I like it or hate it yet. I actually don't feel very strongly in either direction, which worries me. Really don't wanna waste time playing a game I feel apathetic about. Hopefully that will change. I haven't gotten very far, so maybe things will get better near the mid-game, where most stories of JRPGs really start.
So, totally not sure how often I'm gonna write in this blog. Probably only whenever the mood strikes me. It's nice to have a place to share my opinions, even if they aren't the most well written thought out ones.
